This past Saturday we held our most recent bottle drive and we got our biggest haul yet! Thank you to everyone for your support of today’s bottle drive. A very special thank you to all of our volunteers, Rick Fraser , the New Brighton Community Association, Craig Heynen and to Toad and Turtle and Brewsters for their generous donations. CBE has provided updates on their website (link on the right side of this page) on both the K-4 and 5-9 schools in NB. Although, it is not our mandate to report on the 5-9 school, we have promised to do so here until they have formed their own school association. Our school board trustee, Amber Stewart will also be speaking about the new public schools (including Seton High School) at the New Brighton Resident’s Association AGM at 7pm on September 24. This event is open to all New Brighton Residents in good standing with the Resident’s Association. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about the new schools. Updates are below as taken directly from the CBE update:
New Brighton School Grades K-4, Capacity 600 students, Projected opening Fall-16,
“Site piling and foundations are complete. Deep services are complete. Masonry is progressing however bad weather has hampered progress. Structural steel is 90% complete. Q-deck is being installed and is 50% complete. Construction is on schedule. The full Building Permit has been approved.”
Dr. Martha Cohen School (New Brighton-Copperfield School) Grades 5 – 9, Capacity 900 students, Initial projected opening date: Sep -16, Newly revised projected opening date: Dec -16.
“After tender approvals by Alberta Infrastructure and the Board, a Letter of Award was issued to Maple Reinders. Mobilization and construction has commenced. A partial Building permit has been issued.”
