Open House September 1, 2016

Today the school was opened up for visitors to walk through and see the building this community has been waiting so long for.  We collected some photos and have put them on our Construction/School Photo page (link here or above) Construction/School Photos

The school is light, bright, open and airy.  It contains many features that will surely lead to a great school environment for the kids.  Subtle touches like a water fountain in the gymnasium, open door bathroom with sinks open to the hallway for easy handwashing and a kitchen with a passthrough into the student gathering area/lunchroom show the thought that has gone into designing the school.  Although many of the teachers are still setting up classrooms and common areas such as the library and student gathering area, some of the rooms that had been put together show the diversity and creativity of the teachers.  The school crosswalk and playground zone signs are up.  The construction fences will remain up until the first frost in order to protect the new sod.  After that, they will be removed and the school will be open to the field side.  Some of the fencing to the parking lot will remain, we are told, ensuring the kids are protected from traffic.

We got to see some of the equipment that the school will be starting with as well.  There are shared tables for the students, books in the library, electronic boards in the classrooms, gym equipment and musical equpment.  Our goal as a fundraising society for the school is not only to build a playground as soon as possible, but to supplement and add to this equipment within the school.  We look forward to working with the school and parents of the student body to bring in the funds needed to do that.

See you all on Tuesday!  Have a great long weekend!
